My name is Rajendra Paudel. Most people know me as R.P. Srijan — the name I publish under on YouTube, Facebook and TikTok, where around 1.2 million people follow the work.

I was born in Syangja, Nepal. Like hundreds of thousands of Nepalis of my generation, I left to work abroad — first Saudi Arabia, then the United Arab Emirates — and stayed away for more than eight years.

Those years taught me something the recruitment brochures never mention. The hardest part of migration is not the work or the heat or the distance from home. It is how little you are told. Workers arrive owing money they did not need to borrow, on terms they were never shown. They send remittances home through channels that quietly eat a slice of every transfer. They save for a decade and have nothing to show for it, because nobody ever explained what a savings account, a fixed deposit or a share certificate actually is. And when something goes wrong — a withheld salary, a fake visa, a contract that does not match the promise — they do not know that anyone is obliged to help them.

None of that is a failure of intelligence. It is a failure of information. That is a fixable problem, and fixing it became the work.

What I do

In 2018 I founded Way To Success. It began as documentation help and counselling for workers heading to the Gulf. Today it is an 18-person organisation operating across Nepal and the UAE, led day to day by Sangita Timilsina, offering training, documentation support and counselling.

Around it, several other pieces of the same mission have grown:

  • Financial literacy training — in-person workshops for Nepali communities in the UAE, Qatar, Kuwait, Saudi Arabia, Malaysia and Nepal. More than 10,000 people have attended so far.
  • The Bidesh app — a mobile resource platform for workers from Nepal, India and Bangladesh, covering job listings, fraud protection and practical guidance. Building it made me a Migration Tech Monitor Fellow in 2023.
  • WTS Guru — an online learning platform covering personal finance, the share market, SIP and the Social Security Fund, with more than 1,000 enrolled students.
  • Content — videos in Nepali on money, fraud awareness, business and career, across YouTube, Facebook and TikTok.
  • Care My Skin — a factory-direct skincare business, because I also believe in showing that a Nepali can build a real company, not only talk about it.

What I am not

I am an educator, not a licensed financial advisor. I do not manage anyone's money, I do not sell investment products, and I do not tell people what to buy. What I do is explain how the systems work — how an IPO application actually gets processed, what the Social Security Fund deducts and why, how a remittance fee is structured, what a recruitment agency is legally allowed to charge — so that people can make their own decisions with their eyes open.

That distinction matters to me. A community that has been sold too many promises does not need one more person with a shortcut.

Recognition

The work has been recognised in places I did not expect when I started. I was selected for the inaugural Migration Tech Monitor Fellowship in 2023, and received an O'Shaughnessy Ventures Grant in 2024 for developing mobile resources for migrant workers. My writing on digital literacy and fraud has been published in openDemocracy in the UK, and I teach on Udemy to a global audience.

I am grateful for all of it, but the number I actually care about is the 10,000 — the people who sat in a room or on a call and left knowing something they did not know before.

त्यसैले २०१८ मा Way To Success सुरु गरेँ।
